Vivian Fang is the Richard E. Jacobs Chair in Finance at the Kelley School of Business. Her research covers topics like managerial myopia, fraud, social media disclosure, and cryptocurrencies, with publications in leading business journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, and Journal of Accounting Research. Her work has been featured in various media outlets including Bloomberg, CNBC, Economist, Financial Times, Forbes, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal. She has received several research awards, including a WFA Best Paper Award in 2015, the IRRC Institute Research Award in 2017, and the 2017 ICPM Research Award. In 2020, Financial Times listed one of her papers among the top 100 business school studies with social impact. She is a research member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) and serves on the editorial boards of Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Contemporary Accounting Research. 

At Kelley, Vivian teaches Cryptoassets. She regularly provides expert commentary on crypto-related issues in the media and writes op-eds for Bloomberg Tax. She earned her PhD and Master’s degrees from Tulane University and graduated first in her class with a bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University. Before academia, she worked as a tax consultant at Deloitte and holds inactive certifications as a CPA and CFA. ​Beginning in 2024, Vivian serves on the U.S. Federal Reserve's Model Validation Council (MVC).
