Welcome to Cryptoassets, a course that delves into the world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
The course spans three interconnected parts. The first part traces the history of cryptocurrencies, focusing on the ideology and relation to fiat currencies and centralized financial institutions. We will also discuss the technology primitives of blockchain, including cryptography and consensus mechanisms. Although technical, these concepts form the foundation for understanding cryptocurrencies and blockchain. The second part explores the various applications of blockchain technology, such as enterprise solutions, smart contracts, NFTs, and DeFi. The third part navigates the crypto markets, investment, and regulations. We will cover altcoins, market making, valuation, token offerings, and the evolving regulatory landscape.
The goal of this course is to equip students with basic skills to comprehend the intricate world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain. Beyond traditional lectures, students will gain opportunities to learn from industry experts through guest lectures and interactive sessions on relevant and cutting-edge topics.
